SAM COOKE — GARY PINTO STYLE

The velvety sounds of Gary Pinto’s incredible voice filled the Powerhouse Theatre last night in honour of soul legend Sam Cooke.

In Songs & Times Of Sam Cooke – A Change Is Gonna Come, Pinto doesn’t just sing Cooke’s songs, he feels them with his whole body — from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. And with a range that would rival Mariah’s vocal gymnastics, it’s easy to understand why he is an ARIA award winner.

All shoulders were moving and feet were tapping in Pinto's rendition of Twistin' the Night Away. While not all songs performed in Songs & Times Of Sam Cooke – A Change Is Gonna Come were written by the great king of soul, they were at least made famous by him during his short life.

Backed by an exceptionally talented six-piece band with a drummer who is nothing less than mesmerising, the feel-good concert makes for the perfect weekend activity for all ages.

The Australian premier of Songs & Times Of Sam Cooke – A Change Is Gonna Come closes at the Brisbane Powerhouse tonight.
