ROCKET GIRL HITS GREAT HEIGHTS
Brissy girl Gillian Cosgriff, who now resides in Melbourne, is uber talented (singing, playing keyboard and composing her own songs); is uber anxious about the unknown (space and marriage) and manages to make it all uber funny.
Cosgriff, a WAAPA graduate and award winning cabaret artist and songwriter, has crafted the most original show that I have seen at this year’s Brisbane Comedy Festival.
A self-confessed pessimist, she sings beautifully about things like Australia’s last summer, what not to worry about when doing yoga, what her future self says to her childhood, ordinary things that are scary and her partner preparing for a trip to outer space, which she does not want to partake in.
Her cover of Savage Garden’s ‘Moon and Back’ is superb and her costume is out of this world!
This is not your standard run-of-the-mill stand-up show. This is a comedy cabaret show with a difference. Cosgriff’s ability to laugh off her fears and take us on a journey where we’ve never been before is entertaining and super humorous. A blend of Tim Minchin, Jessie J and Doris Day. Go see this cosmic girl’s 'To the Moon and Back' at the Brisbane Powerhouse until March 18.
