CHASING HERITAGE

From Australia's only Indigenous contemporary circus ensemble comes a show dealing with the question of “Who am I?”

Chasing Smoke's Samoan-Australian director, Natano Fa'anana, brings the 40,000 year-old Australian culture to audiences with a traditional entertainment media: the circus.

The show opens with a comedic commentary, which instantly grabs the audience's attention. With a healthy mix of circus and contemporary dance, the four performers convey their personal stories and heritage through acrobatics and movement.

The show by Casus is designed to build on each performer's strength, which works well with their individual stories, while also highlighting the differences between us as people. The absolute highlight of this show is the diabolo juggling act: beautiful balance of movement and stillness, symbolically reflecting the stories told by the performers.

Chasing Smoke is showing at the Brisbane Powerhouse until November 3, 2018.
