BLANC DE BLANC ENCORE ENCORE

No, it’s not a double-word typo; the “bubbles of fun” show is back! Blanc de Blanc Encore has returned to Brisbane Festival three years after it wowed audiences at Southbank, only this time it’s at Hamilton. From the moment you enter the Spiegeltent, you are greeted by the most fabulous people in even more fabulous costumes, and once seated strap yourself in because you are in for a wild and riotous ride!

If you saw the original Blanc de Blanc in 2016 or the sequel in 2019, you would know what to expect of Strut & Fret’s production. It’s a show threaded together with jaw-dropping circus, raunchy burlesque, hilarious comedy, physical theatre, song, and dance. It’s all the entertainment you never knew you wanted to see in one show!

Directed by creative genius Scott Maidment, who is also the Creative Director of Strut & Fret, the sensuality of the show is carefully balanced with smatterings of comic flesh in which some body parts are more visible than others.

With several new performers at the 2022 Brisbane Festival season, it’s definitely worth watching again. New cast members also mean some new acts, including foot juggling by ultra-talented New Zealander Emma Phillips and effortless corde lisse by Canadian Charles-Eric Bouchard. All other cast members are from around the world: Canadian character actor/clown Emile Mathieu, American clown Joe Desoto, American burlesque dancer Skylar Benton, lyra duo Caitlin Tomson-Moylan and Spencer Craig from USA and Canada respectively, Australian dancer/singer Melanie Hawkins, and Australian singer Rechelle Mansour.

Of course, having a glass of bubbles is imperative to watching Blanc de Blanc Encore, because after all, champagne was the metaphor for the original Blanc de Blanc show. But hold onto that glass; if you’re lucky, you might get a free top up!

Blanc de Blanc Encore is showing at the Brisbane Festival until 18 September 2022.
