HONEYMAN STREET SUNDAY SESH

It was a beautiful day at South Bank and a perfect afternoon to watch a live Sunday session. Perhaps Sean Sennett and his talented singers and band did a weather dance earlier in the week, but the coincidence of such pleasant weather made the For Honeyman Street performance all the more enjoyable.

The amazing band—Peta, Joe, Derek, Mark and Jason—played the song cycle about life, love and quirky moments in time. Each had their own brief moment in the limelight and were duly acknowledged by Sennett.

Besides the original songs, the style diversity of the six main singers (including Sennett) is what made this performance so unique. Singers included Charlotte Emily with her angelic voice and huge range (and her sister also supported), country singer Megan Cooper with her effortless switches between head and chest voice, Roz Pappalardo from Cairns with her strong stage presence, pop singer extraordinaire Rachael Dixon, high energy rocker Dana Gehrman, and of course, Sean Sennett who conceived the concept of For Honeyman Street after the success of I Left My Heart In Highgate Hill.

Although For Honeyman Street was a one-day-only show, there are still two weeks left to experience a plethora of shows and events at the 2021 Brisbane Festival, which runs until 25 September 2021.
